Hi CrisA,· Which browser you are using?· Did you make any software or hardware changes on your machine prior to this issue?· Do you get the error message only when you go online or at other instances?Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.Method 1You may run the Memory Diagnostics Tool on your machine which helps to detect problems with the computer’s memory.Method 2If you are using Internet Explorer, you may follow this link & check if the issue persists.Internet Explorer does not start or stops respondingHope the information helps. I have a system with the same error:svchost.exe - Application ErrorThe instruction at "0x7c923845" referenced memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be "read".Then my computer freezes upAs far as I can tell, this happened just after updating windows live messenger last week. I notice that I can browse towww.microsoft.com but I am not able to get to windowsupdate.microsoft.com or update.microsoft.com. I am not able to browse to WU from IE8 or Firefox. As I have a Toshiba laptop I eventually performed the 'product recovery' process. It took hours to reload everything after the hard drive was re-configured but it seems to have resolved the problems I'd been having. Drastic solution I know but I'm not a 'techie' so was becoming more and more frustrated by constant 'freezes' and poor performance. I can only assume that my Windows XP system had somehow been corrupted. It's all running very well now, fingers crossed!

Not sure what triggered it on my machine, I don't use 'messenger' but I had worked out that it was something to do with Windows. As I have a Toshiba laptop I eventually performed the 'product recovery' process using their 'product recovery disc'. It took hours to reload everything and download updates after the hard drive was re-configured but it seems to have resolved the problems I'd been having. Drastic solution I know but I'm not a 'techie' so was becoming more and more frustrated by constant 'freezes' and poor performance.
